↓ Want to kill your passion? Try turning it into a business.

That's the harsh truth nobody tells aspiring entrepreneurs. Every time I hear someone preach about "finding their passion," my eye starts to twitch.

Five years ago, I thought I had it all figured out. I was a well-paid programmer who loved coding. Then I discovered racing cars, and everything changed.

Picture this: You're pushing 200kph on a track, your mind in a Zen-like state where nothing exists except you, the car, and the next corner. Your brain fights the primal urge to slow down while you search for those extra tenths of a second. Pure bliss.

Naturally, I thought: This is it. This is what I should do with my life.

Wrong.

The Reality Check

We see Jeremy Clarkson testing the latest Ferrari and think, "Now THAT'S a dream job!" What we don't see? The endless hours of script writing, the politics, the deadlines, the stress. We only see the cherry on top.

Through racing, I discovered something that changed everything: What truly lit me up wasn't the cars themselves – it was pushing my limits. Testing boundaries. Solving problems. Making incremental improvements to shave seconds off lap times.

And that's when it clicked.

The Real Hack

The greatest career hack isn't finding your passion – it's being passionate about the process.

This realization led me down an unexpected path: running a crystal and incense business. Today we have two retail locations and a team of over 10 people. And here's the kicker – my passion for crystals grew AFTER I started the business, not before.

Why? Because running a business is 80% grunt work that has nothing to do with your product. It's managing people, handling customer complaints, dealing with accounting, and solving endless problems. If you're only passionate about the end product, you'll hate most of your day.

The Better Way

Here's the real secret: Think bigger with your passion and smaller with your implementation.

Love solving problems? You can crush it anywhere – from corporate leadership to running a food truck. Energized by helping others grow? You'll thrive whether you're coding software or coaching executives. Get a kick out of pushing boundaries? Pick literally any field – excellence is excellence.

Stop trying to find the perfect job. Start identifying what processes make you come alive.

Because passion isn't something you find.

It's something you build.
