Have you ever felt the weight of knowing where you want to be, but the path to get there feels impossibly far? That gap between who you are now and who you could be—it’s a struggle we all face. But guess what? That gap is also where the magic happens—only if you’re willing to put in the work.
Starting sucks
I know this because I’ve been there.
Let me take you back ~6 years to when I was a terrible driver on the track. I had no control over the car. Every lap felt like a battle—I was fighting the car, the track, and my own fear. If something went wrong, I didn’t have the skills to recover. And I knew it.
PS: This is me on my very first serious track day, being overly cautious and then running out of skill and into the gravel.
Fear wasn’t just lingering in the back of my mind; it was in every decision I made—every corner, every throttle input, every attempt to push harder. The vision I had of being a confident, controlled driver? It felt miles away, almost impossible to reach.
And the frustration only made it worse. No matter how hard I tried, I kept making mistakes, overcorrecting, or hesitating at the worst moments. I’d leave the track feeling defeated, convinced I was stuck between who I was and who I wanted to be.
The click
Then one day, something clicked. I realized I was looking at the gap all wrong. I wanted to leap straight to where I wanted to be, but real progress isn’t about massive jumps. It’s about tiny wins—braking a little later, adjusting my line, carrying a fraction more speed through a corner.
At first, those small changes felt insignificant. But lap after lap, they added up. Each tiny improvement became a brick in the bridge to the driver I wanted to be. It wasn’t quick or glamorous—far from it—but it worked. Slowly, fear gave way to control, one step at a time.
Here’s the truth: most people give up because they can’t handle the struggle of feeling stuck or not good enough. But that struggle is the foundation for growth. Every small, imperfect step you take is another brick in the bridge you’re building.
The real shift happens when you stop obsessing over the gap and start focusing on one percent progress every day. It might not feel like much, but over time, it transforms everything. One day, you’ll look back and realize you’ve not only crossed the bridge—you’ve become the person you once aspired to be.
Start building today
So, what’s one small step you can take today to build your bridge? Embrace the struggle, celebrate the small wins, and commit to showing up. Focus on tiny improvements, one step at a time.
Because the magic isn’t just in reaching the other side; it’s in the process of becoming. Keep pushing, keep building, and trust that one day, you’ll look back and see just how far you’ve come.
Stay committed,
